Founder, Hypothesis Project
Dan is the founder of Hypothesis, a non-profit building an open source implementation of the new web standard known as Web Annotation. His vision is a world in which all conversations about all knowledge are discoverable everywhere.
Dan is a long time entrepreneur and coder, who launched the web based travel industry in 1994. His travel reservation framework became the Internet Travel Network (ITN), later renamed GetThere. GetThere was the first enterprise SaaS application on the web, and innovated many firsts in web application and online travel services. GetThere went public in 1999 and was sold to Sabre in 2001, where it now serves over $10B in travel annually as the engine behind numerous services. The first travel reservation ever made over the web went through a server in Dan’s Palo Alto living room in 1995 (SFO-LAS).
